Red Mountain Makers

Red Mountain Makers is part of an ad-hoc bhamsupport group organizing distributed manufacturing of 3D printed and CNC-cut face shields to help meet medical equipment shortfalls in the Birmingham metro area and across Alabama.  The prototype design is currently being checked against medical specs and is linked below:

Prusa Protective Face Shield - RC3 - 3D Printable

At this point the grassroots group are organizing, have a starter fund raised for initial materials purchase, and are signing up both volunteers and organizations needing what can be produced. We need people who have both 3D printers that can print PETG and CNC laser cutters that can handle up to 2' x 4' dimensional sheet material, and up to 4' x 8' 0.020" thick Mylar film. Please check your equipment to see if it can produce the parts needed.

We also need people who can manage the project, supply chain specialists who can help with sourcing, others who can do pick up and deliveries, and others to do the outreach and coordination of this community-based push to give our medical professionals the tools they need to handle this crisis.

Help us help our community!
