  This meetup marks Red Mountain Maker's first collaboration with DEFCON 205. We’re thrilled to host this event for them and bring our communities closer together.

Chris has delved into the darkest corners of modern policing and now brings his formidable expertise to the realm of technical security. From battling corruption to pioneering private investigative and TSCM services, he’s seen it all.

  Session Focus: Technical Threats Workshop
  

  Decode and Defend: Step into the shadowy world of surveillance with our interactive workshop. We’ll peel back the layers of security and expose:

  • The ABCs of TSCM and why it’s your digital armor
  • An arsenal of threats from mundane “spy shop” gadgets to high-tech espionage tools
  • The spectrum of devices: DIY hacks, RF, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GSM, and beyond
  • A closer look at invisible dangers like infrared and visible light threats, hardwired mics, stealth recorders, and carrier current devices.

  This session is your battlefield guide to navigating and neutralizing modern surveillance threats. Expect a charged atmosphere, live demos, and intense discussions.

  While there are no strict age restrictions, some of DC205's events may have age-appropriate content. We recommend that attendees be at least 18 years old or have parental consent for certain activities.

  Making a Makerspace Let's make our space even better!

  Have you ever found yourself thinking about ways to improve our space, but were unsure of where to start?This event is for you!

  While anyone can make improvements at any time, the work can be fun if done together.

  This monthly event during open hours is a time for members to get together and improve our space.

  Who can join?

  Any interested member.

  What are we going to be doing?

  Bring your ideas for improving the space. Maybe some widgets in your favorite room need to be organized. Maybe you thought of some signage that would help new members use a tool. Maybe a room needs to be de-cluttered and cleaned. In the unlikely event, that no one has any ideas, we can always rotate through rooms each month and organize them.

  When is this event?

  The last Sunday of every month during open hours. The event will end with open hours or until the last Keyholder locks up. Stay for the whole event or just stop by and say hi. There are no time expectations.

  Where are we meeting?

  We will have a quick meetup in the classroom at 4:00 to discuss what we want to work on next and possibly form groups.

  Do I have to?

  No! This is a voluntary event, regular open hours will still occur. We decided to host this during open hours to increase the chances of more people being involved.
