Cutting and Soldering Glass (Light work level)

Details - Cutting glass into various shapes and knowing how to use your tools is essential towards creating a glass masterpiece. In this class students will be introduced to the various tools and the proper methods of utilization and handling of glass to successfully and safely cut and solder the pieces together. A little bit of everything will be covered In this class with emphasis focused on cutting glass and how certain colors work better in combination than others. Students will take what they learned and with the tools and supplies provided, construct a stained glass coaster demonstrating what was learned. This is a great class for the beginner or the timid. No previous classes are necessary!

Work Involved - (cutting, measuring, copper foiling, soldering, framing edges, and patinas)

Tools & Materials - (Stained Glass of various shades and colors, glass cutters, scribes, oil, soldering irons, flush cut pliers, splitting pliers, nibbling pliers, tracing sheets, clear glass practice sheets, copper foil, diamond files/grinder, 1/4” zinc or lead U channel, plastic water color brushes, small plastic paint cups, paper towels, flux, patinas, 60/40 lead solder)
